Museum Reopening Guidance

Welcome back!

The museum has made some changes in line with government guidelines to ensure the safety of our visitors as well as our staff during your visit.

We will reopen with limited dates and times from 18th August 2020 (Additional times have been added for half term). Admission will be via a pre-booked ticket that is free of charge. We will be admitting one family group or bubble at a time. Only one ticket needs to be booked for a family group, please state the number in your party upon booking.

Tickets must be booked at least 24 hours in advance and are limited in number.

Depending on Government Guidance our Opening times could change at any time. Anyone with a pre-booked ticket will be contacted if your visit cannot go ahead.

Each time slot will be one hour long with time allocated in between slots for cleaning.

Anyone showing any of the COVID-19 symptoms must not attend the booking.

Symptoms:

  • high temperature;
  • new continuous cough;
  • loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

If symptoms develop whilst at the museum, you must go home and follow the ‘Stay at Home Guidance’. Any sickness should also be reported to the museum immediately.

Please note that we will be collecting contact details (name and phone number) for those who enter the museum building to support the NHS Test and Trace system. Only one member of the family group or bubble needs to leave their details.

What to Expect:

  • You can prebook your ticket up to 24 hours before your visits here 
  • On arrival at The Manor House please make your way to Reception, If Reception is busy, please wait on the markers provided until Reception is clear. Once in Reception please inform the receptionist that you are there for the Museum and they will check the booking system.
  • On entry please use the hand sanitiser available before heading into the Museum.
  • Each time slot is 1 hour long, and you will be able to enjoy the whole Museum to yourselves during that time.
  • A member of staff will be present at Reception if you have any questions or queries, please ensure you adhere to social distancing and stay 2m away from them at all times.
  • Touch points within the Museum will be cleaned both before and after your visit, please help us by refraining from touching glass cases or surfaces around the Museum. Interactives have been temporarily deactivated.
  • In line with Government guidance please wear a face covering during your visit, for the safety of staff and other visitors, unless you are exempt.
  • You are welcome to enjoy the Museum for the whole one hour slot, the member of staff will let you know when there is 15 minutes remaining. This is to ensure that there is adequate cleaning time available between time slots.
  • Our Typography Exhibition has been extended and will be available to view during your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will you be open?

Littlehampton Museum will reopen on 18th August for pre booked visits only. Dates and times will be limited. We hope to expand our opening times and days as soon as we can safely.

How do I get a ticket?

You can book your visit online here, please ensure that you book at least 24 hours in advance.

Can I book by phone?

If you’d prefer to book by phone please call 01903 738100 and we will book a slot for you.

Why do I have to leave my contact details?

In order to support the NHS Test and Trace programme, we are taking contact details (name and telephone number) for all visitors.

In line with guidance issued by the Department for Health and Social Care, we will keep your details safely and in compliance with GDPR legislation for 21 days before securely disposing of or deleting them. We will only share your details with NHS Test and Trace, if asked and in the event that it is needed to help stop the spread of coronavirus. We will not use your details for any other purposes or pass them on to anyone else.

Is there wheelchair access?

The Museum is fully accessible for wheelchairs, please note that access to the building is up a slope from the Manor House carpark.

Do you have toilets?

Unfortunately we do not have any public toilets, the nearest public toilet is in St Martins Car Park, 5 minutes from the Museum.

I’m visiting with my Children, what will be available for them?

Due to current restrictions our interactives have been temporarily disabled, we have also had to remove children’s dressing up and colouring in. However we have a number of trails and colouring in sheets which can be downloaded at home available on our website. Trails like “can you spot” can be downloaded before your visit and be used whilst you are at the Museum, don’t forget to bring a pencil!

Can I donate an object to the Museum?

Currently, we are not accepting physical objects. Please email a photograph to museum@littlehampton-tc.gov.uk and we will put forward the donation to the next Community Resources Committee who ultimately decide on Museum Donations. Please note we do have a strict donations policy and cannot accept items which do not relate to Litltehampton’s History or that we have duplicates of in the collection.

I have an enquiry about Littlehampton’s History, how can I find out more?

We will be happy to write down your enquiry for you and add it to our enquiries system. Please note that due to COVID-19 we currently have a backlog in enquiries, and it can take up to one month for a response if your enquiry requires some further research. We will aim to respond to your enquiry as soon as possible.

Is the shop open?

In order to limit risk to our staff and visitors we have temporarily closed the shop. If you were looking for a particular item or book please speak to a member of staff and we may be able to make arrangements for you. We hope to be able to take card payments very soon at which point we will re-install the shop.
