Iron Age Pot Sherds

Collection Category

These pot sherds are some of our examples of protohistoric pottery.  As you can see, the techniques lack a certain finesse that later pottery would adopt. This is because the technology had not evolved yet. Much of the same principles regarding the inclusions of flint pieces in the fabric to increase heat durability still stand. The fabric of the pots themselves are friable and prone to crumbling.
